General Responsibilities and Duties

The Water Department is under the elected Board of Water Commissioners which consists of three members, one elected each year, who serve a three year term. The Water Commissioners have exclusive charge and control of the Town’s Water Department and water system subject to Federal and State laws and bylaws.

  • Provide the Town of Southampton with abundant, safe drinking water.
  • Provide the Town of Southampton with adequate water supply and pressure for fire fighting where hydrants are available.
  • Maintain well pump station and distribution system
  • Manage and protect current water supplies.
  • Seek new sources for future water supply demands when needed.
  • Respond professionally to the public and government officials requests, inquires and problems.
  • Follow enterprise funding to offset all water department expenses and user fees.

Water bills can be paid at the Treasurer/Collector’s office in Town Hall, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Please mail water bills to the Treasurer/Collector's Office.
