Town Assessor & Board of Assessors
General Responsibilities and Duties
The Southampton Board of Assessors, a three-member elected Board with staggered terms, is responsible for determining the full and fair valuation of real and personal property for the purpose of levying the property tax as of January 1st of each year. It is the responsibility of the Assessors' Office under Massachusetts law to approve, list and maintain these valuations and to meet the Commissioner of Revenues recertification requirements for property valuation annually.
Every effort to ensure the accuracy of data collected on property values in the Town of Southampton is taken by the Assessors' Office. If a discrepancy is discovered in a property record, it should be brought to the attention of the Assessors' Office. Also, find applications for deferrals, exemptions and abatements in this office.
The Fiscal Year 2024 tax rate of $14.25 has been certified by the DOR Bureau of Local Assessment.
Tax maps are used by the Assessor’s office to locate and provide essential land area information about every real property in their municipality. The Town of Southampton does not make any warranty, expressed or implied, nor assume any responsibility or legal liability for the accuracy of these maps. This data does not take the place of a professional survey and has no legal bearing on the parcel configurations, such as the true shape, size, location, or property lines.
